A NETWORK set up to help Wearside war veterans has received a £3,000 cash boost.
Sunderland Armed Forces Network joined bank workers in Fawcett Street to thank the public for voting for them to receive the money from the 2013 Lloyds Bank Community Fund. The city has more veterans than any other community in the UK, with 8.7 per cent of its residents a former member of the armed forces.
Sunderland Armed Forces Network provides invaluable support to these veterans as they re-integrate into civilian life, and have helped more than 189 veterans since its inception.
Graham Hall, chairman of the Network, said: “As a local charity, finding funding can be difficult and time-consuming. With the Lloyds Bank Community Fund, it was really easy.”
