The 35-year-old is hoping to paint as many baby bumps as possible during November with the mums-to-be, families and friends sponsoring her.

Trish, who runs her own face painting business Fab, Pixies and Parties, said when she heard about others doing it, she wanted to join in.

She said: “I have painted a few baby bumps before and I just thought it would be a lovely way to support Children In Need and highlight baby bump painting.”

The artist said the craze of baby bump painting came over from America and is becoming more popular in Britain.

She said: “It is a bit like Marmite, people seem to either love the idea or hate it.

“Some people are a bit squeamish about it, but it is becoming more popular and more people are open to the idea.”

Trish always does the bump painting in a mum-to-be’s own home and many find it very relaxing.

She said: “It is a lovely experience for the baby, they just seem to love the feel of the paintbrush and sponges because you can feel them moving around.”

The painter said all the materials she uses are non-toxic and parents, who can choose whatever design they want, like to keep photographs of the painted bump as a lovely reminder of when they were expecting.

Trish said it is nice for her to meet the babies that were inside the bump she painted.

Now, the artist is hoping to hear from pregnant women who would like to have their bumps painted in November to add to the two she already has booked in.

The cost is £5 to cover all the paint and travel expenses and everyone is urged to raise as much money as they can by sponsoring Trish online. Anyone interested can contact her on 0785 401 3627 and if anyone would like to sponsor her, visit https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/fabpixies.

The year’s Children in Need day will be held on Friday, November 15.
