AN MP has met carers and praised them for their work.
City of Durham MP Roberta Blackman-Woods marked Carers Rights Day with a visit to Durham Town Hall.
She was joined by North Durham MP Kevan Jones at the event, which included advice from Welfare Rights, Job Centre Plus and Durham and Chester-le-Street Carers Support.
“I was delighted to be able to show my support for carers in my constituency as well as the many thousands more across the UK,” she said.
“Carers do a fantastic job and their work dramatically improves the lives of those they care for and the town hall event was a wonderful celebration of this valuable work.
“Carers Rights Day is a great way of bringing carers together as well as providing an opportunity for many to access the specialist support and advice they need.”
She highlighted the “vital contribution” made by carers.
