A MOTORCYCLIST had to be airlifted to hospital after suffering life-threatening injuries in a crash.
The 44-year-old man suffering multiple injuries and had to be anaesthetised at the scene of the smash on the A693 in Pelton, near Chester-le-Street.
The accident happened when the motorcycle collided with a lamppost at 11.50am yesterday.
The Guardian of the North chopper and its sister craft the Pride of Cumbria, were both sent to the incident.
A spokesman for the Great North Air Ambulance said: “The Great North Air Ambulance had both aircrafts at the scene due to the serious nature of the incident.”
The man was flown to the RVI.”
