More than 100 Sunderland premises have been affected by a large power cut in the city centre.
Northern Power Grid have confirmed that 197 customers were left without power as after a cable outside of St Anthony’s Academy on Thornhill Terrace was damaged during building works.
The school has confirmed via Twitter that it will be closed to pupils on Friday, November 11, as a result of the cut affecting services.
A spokesman from Northern Power Grid said they received the call at 11.55am on November 10 with areas such as High Street, Fawcett Street and Burdon Road as well as The Bridges affected.
A spokesman from Northern Power Grid said: “We managed to restore the power supplies to all customers, bar one, by 12.44pm.
“The remaining customer will have their power restored by 4pm.
“We apologise for any inconvenience.”
