People taking part in the Great North Run won’t have to worry about buying a Metro ticket.
Wristbands that double as tickets have gone on sale, meaning runners don’t have to carry loose change or worry about losing their ticket.
They can also be bought in advance, so runners can avoid the busy queues at the ticket machines.
John Fenwick, director of finance and resources for Nexus, which owns and manages Metro, said: “The Great North Run wristbands are ideal for anyone taking part in the event.
“For runners and spectators alike, they will save you having to queue at a ticket machine. If you’re a runner then you don’t need to worry where your Metro ticket is after the race.”
