RESIDENTS were given the chance to rub shoulders with dignitaries from around the region as a town Mayor and his wife hosted an event.
Mayor of Peterlee Ron Curtis and wife Elizabeth hosted the annual Mayoress at Home event at Shotton Hall Banqueting Suites in Peterlee.
As well as scores of Peterlee residents being invited to meet the couple, there was also a chance to sit down and have an afternoon cream tea. Guests could also look around the stunning grounds of Shotton Hall, which is the council’s headquarters, and there was also live music.
A raffle was held and raised £333 for the Mayor’s charities, including Peterlee youth-associated schemes, Butterwick Hospice, Macmillan Cancer Support and the North East Air Ambulance.
Mayor Curtis said: “We had a full house.
“The afternoon cream tea went down brilliantly.
“It was one of the best Mayoress at Home events that there has been.”
He added: “It was really well-attended and I’d like to thank all those who came along and help make the day such a success.”
