YOUNG musicians will entertain the crowds in a Sunderland park.
Schoolchildren and families across the city are being invited to the Music in Mowbray event this Friday lunchtime.
The Mayor and Mayoress of Sunderland, Councillors Iain Kay and Barbara McClennan, will welcome visitors to the event in Mowbray Park, in Sunderland city centre, between 12pm and 1.30pm.
People will be entertained by music and dance from Southmoor School’s Steel Pan Band, singers from Washington School and musicians of CoSYJO (City of Sunderland Youth Jazz Orchestra) performing in and around the bandstand.
Coun Iain Kay said: “I’m delighted to have been invited to come along to welcome everyone to enjoy Music in Mowbray Park and hope we have a big turnout.
“We can all be very proud of the young musical talent we have in Sunderland, and of the hard work being done in our schools to help support and develop it.
“Music in Mowbray is a great chance for us all to enjoy the entertainment in beautiful surroundings, and also for our young people to enjoy performing in front of a large audience including friends and family.”
