A MAN was taken to hospital after being stabbed in the chest.
Police were called to Hylton Street, off Chester Road, in Sunderland, by the ambulance service after the 27-year-old was injured in a house.
He was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident, which took place just after 11pm on Friday.
Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the stabbing, or anyone who saw any disturbances in the Hylton Street area at that time to contact them on 101 ex 69191 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
