A MAN accused of a city centre sex attack told jurors yesterday he is not a rapist.
Lee Duggan said he had a consensual encounter with his 19-year-old accuser and did not force her to do anything she did not want to do.
The 26-year-old told Newcastle Crown Court he and the woman had “laughed and joked” after they had sex in an alleyway – and that she even gave him his £2 bus fare home.
Duggan, formerly of Radcliffe Road, Red House, denies raping the woman as she walked home from the Glass Spider bar in Sunderland in the early hours of August 8 last year.
But he told jurors: “We laughed and joked about it, imagining if anyone had walked past and stuff like that.
“I didn’t think anything like this was going to happen. Everything was just normal, just two people who had met.
“It came to an end and I said I was going home.”
The trial continues.
