EMERGENCY services were called to a lake after a man collapsed.
A passer-by spotted the pensioner fall over next to Silksworth Lake yesterday and alerted firefighters at nearby Sunderland Central Station.
They contacted paramedics and police officers arrived at the scene at about 9.30am.
The man, who was believed to have been in his 70s, suffered a fractured hip and was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital.
His conditions are not described as life-threatening.
