A MAN has appeared in court after a woman was shot in the chest with an air rifle earlier this month.
David Archer faces charges of wounding and possessing a firearm in connection with the shooting.
The 24-year-old woman was injured in a domestic dispute in Moncrieff Terrace, Easington Colliery.
No charges were put to Archer during the short preliminary hearing at Durham Crown Court. He only spoke to confirm his age, name and address to the court.
Judge Robert Adams ordered a plea hearing to take place on December 2.
The judge also set a provisional trial date of February 24 next year.
Archer, 26, was granted bail on the condition that he lives at an address in Balliol Close, Peterlee.
