A MAN has appeared in court accused of using napalm to make a bomb in Horden.
Nicholas Smith was arrested last week after police searched a property in Twelfth Street.
The 53-year-old was charged with making an explosive substance with intent to endanger life and remanded in custody.
He appeared by video link at Peterlee Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
Smith was not asked to enter a plea to the charge that on May 8, he “unlawfully and maliciously made an explosive substance, namely napalm”.
Deputy District Judge Sandra Keen sent the case to Durham Crown Court, where Smith will appear next week.
No bail application was made by his solicitor.
