EMERGENCY crews were called to rescue a man who fell down an embankment.
The man, in his 20s, landed at the bottom of the 20ft embankment in Peareth Hall Road, Springwell, at about 12.30am on Sunday.
Police and ambulance crews were unable to reach him and a fire crew was called to cut through padlocks of a gate to a nearby field so the man could be placed on a spinal board.
Police were called to the street at about 12.20am after reports of a disturbance.
A spokeswoman said: “It would appear that during this disturbance he stumbled and fell down the embankment.”
