THIS stash of drugs was seized as Operation Sledgehammer came home for one dealer in misery.

Durham police got a warrant to search a house in Ash Crescent, Seaham and found cocaine, herbal cannabis and resin, plus 2,000 pills believed to be benzodiazepines.

The haul had an estimated street value of £3,000.

Enquiries are under way to arrest a man in connection drugs offences.

Police say they were pleased with the outcome of the raid as Operation Sledgehammer continues to fight organised crime.

“These things do not come about by accident,” said Seaham Neighbourhood Inspector Vince Addison.

“They are down to the patient work of police officers, and the community always has a part to play.

“The people of Seaham do not accept drug dealing in their communities – and neither do we.

“We will strive to work with our communities to rid our town of drug dealers.”
