THE death of a man found in Seaham Harbour is thought to have been a tragic accident after carnival celebrations.
He is due to be formerly identified today, but has been named locally as Jamie Guy, from Station Road in the town, and had connections to Murton.
The 26-year-old had been out at Seaham Carnival with friends.
It is believed he fell from the cliff top at the back of the Sure Start centre.
Detective Inspector Dave Ashton said: “We understand the victim had been out in the town with a number of friends for much of Sunday evening, but at the point he fell from the cliffside into the sea he is believed to have been on his own.
“When his friends came back they found him floating in the water, having fallen around 15 metres from the cliffside on the north dock of the harbour.”
