Man charged after crash destroyed wall

A MAN has been charged in connection with a crash which caused a car to smash though the front wall of a home.

The two-car collision on Friday afternoon in Boult Terrace, which runs alongside Chester Road in Shiney Row, left a Suzuki Swift damaged and two women injured.

Northumbria Police have said 19-year-old Jake Galea-Hughes, from Penshaw, has been charged with careless driving and failing to stop after an accident.

He will appear before Sunderland Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, August 20. The accident happened shortly before 4pm, with the driver of the Suzuki and her back-seat passenger treated at the scene by paramedics.

A dog, which had also been inside the car, escaped injury.
