VISITORS to Sunderland’s North East Aircraft Museum had an out-of-this-world experience.

The museum staged a science-fiction event with Star Wars Clone Troopers rubbing shoulders with Daleks, while Dr Who turned up in three different incarnations.

And the Bishop Auckland Radio Amateurs were on hand, demonstrating the hobby for visitors and contacting enthusiasts from as far afield as Romania.

The museum’s Paul Hughes said: “We have had a really good turn-out. The weather has certainly not dampened people’s enthusiasm.

“The fancy dress was very popular – the kids were really excited about taking part.

“This is the second time we have done this and we are hoping to get bigger and better again next year.”
