What a great bunch of fund-raisers
More than 80 walkers put a "Spring" in their step by taking part in a charity walk at Herrington Country Park.
The big-hearted walkers, all carrying daffodils, gathered for Marie Curie Cancer Care's first-ever 5k walk at the park.
Marie Curie Cancer Care fund-raiser Suzanne McKenna said: "Our Daffodil Walk at Herrington Country Park is a huge event for us, especially this year, as 2008 marks the 60th anniversary of Marie Curie Cancer Care.
"We are delighted that so many people joined us to show their support for our work in the region."
Marie Curie nurses offer terminally-ill patients the choice of dying at home, giving them the support they need for free – meaning the charity relies on the generosity of fund-raisers.
It is hoped the walk will have raised thousands of pounds to provide nursing care for cancer patients both at the charities' Newcastle hospice and in patients' homes across the North East.
