Teen in court over death
A TEENAGER accused of manslaughter has made his first appearance at crown court.
The 15-year-old, who cannot be named, is jointly charged with Dominic Younger, 23, over the death of Kevin Goggins, 46.
The youth did not sit in the dock during the short hearing at Newcastle Crown Court yesterday but stayed at the back of the courtroom.
Both defendants spoke only to confirm their names.
The pair will be back before the court on June 7 and a trial date has been set for August 2.
Prosecutor Robert Adams told the court: "Both have been sent to the crown court for a single offence of manslaughter in relation to Kevin Goggins, 46, whose death appears to have arisen as a result of a fight.
"The offence allegedly occurred on August 11 last year."
Younger, of May Street, Millfield, Sunderland, and the youth, also from Sunderland, were granted conditional bail until their next appearance.
