Sunny days see crowds flock for days of classic fun
HUNDREDS of people enjoyed the sunshine at a classic car show held at the North East Aircraft Museum over the weekend.
More than 200 cars were on display at the event organised by Sunderland and District Classic Vehicle Society.
Club chairman Ian Davison said: "There was a bit of everything from the early 1930s right up until the 1980s, including wagons, motor bikes and pedal bikes."
The main show event was hosted on Sunday but, as a tease for the general public, 20 old cars went out in convoy to Fulwell Windmill and the National Glass Centre on Saturday.
Ian said: "It was a nice afternoon for it and we certainly drew plenty of attention. One old car tends to make people point, but when you have a load of them all together it really turns people's heads."
The group of enthusiasts who meet at the Village Tavern in Ryhope on the first Thursday of every month always welcome new members.
Recently the club raised nearly 3,000 for the Grace House Children's Hospice appeal and this year members are raising money for the North East Air Ambulance.
Raffle prizes include a 37 inch LCD TV, 100 cash, driving lessons and a children's bike and tickets are on sale until October.
