Shock over dead mum
A young mum has been found dead in her home.
Peterlee woman Alana Williams was discovered by neighbours in her house in the town's Pentland Close.
Locals have been left shocked by the death, which police are not treating as suspicious.
A spokesman for Durham Police said: "I can confirm that a 27-year-old woman was found dead at a house in Pentland Close, Peterlee.
"There are no suspicious circumstances and the coroner has been informed."
It is believed Mrs Williams was a widow and had two young children.
It is understood Mrs Williams's body was found by neighbours at about 11am on Tuesday.
Police arrived at the scene shortly afterwards.
Durham coroner Andrew Tweddle has been told about the incident and is set to open an inquest into Mrs Williams's death in the next few days.
