Peter's full of bounce as he sets his sights on 2012 Olympics
Dreaming of the Olympics, Peter Evans has high hopes for his first national trampolining competition.
The 15-year-old Thornhill School pupil has qualified to grade two, which means he will be competing against some of the best trampolinists in the country.
Peter, who trains with the AAA Trampoline Club, said: "I have my first event in Birmingham this weekend and I am really nervous."
The teenager, of Oakfield Close, East Herrington, will face five judges alongside 18 other contestant in the under 17s category.
Peter said: "Professionally, I don't think there is much money in it, but I would love to go to the Olympics."
Coach Andy Revell is confident Peter will do well in Sunday's competition and said there was a chance he could be a contender in 2012.
The youngster trains hard and, after the club received 6,000 in funding, he can practise on an Olympic-standard trampoline.
The club, which has been running for less than a year, is developing a reputation in local competitions with a higher entry rate than any other group.
Andy said: "In the last competition, only our second, we had some fantastic results. We won six trophies and 14 medals, including kids who had never competed before, and one of our girls qualified to compete regionally."
