Health team aims to spread happiness at Christmas
Santa dropped in to give Wearsiders tips on staying happy and healthy this Christmas.
Sunderland's Happiness and Wellbeing Network hosted a festive event at the city's Museum and Winter Gardens to highlight the services on offer to boost mental health.
Sunderland Teaching Primary Care Trust's (TPCT) health trainers and delivering race equality team manned stalls, alongside organisations including Washington Mind, Sunderland City Council and Job Linkage.
Visitors were offered free health checks, weight checks, body mass index and blood pressure checks, and staff were on hand to give advice and answer questions.
Entertainment was provided by Sunderland Ladies' Choir, who sang carols.
Jackie Nixon, chairwoman of the Happiness and Wellbeing Network and development co-ordinator in the TPCT's delivering race equality team, said: "This event brought together all sorts of services which focus on improving mental and physical health, general wellbeing and happiness.
"More than 100 people came to the event and the feedback has been really positive. People said they felt happy as soon as they walked through the door."
