Get Naked with Trinny and Susannah
Style gurus Trinny and Susannah are calling on Wearsiders to get their kit off in a bid to help them create the nation's first body census.
As part of The Great British Body, a new three-part show for ITV, TV's most famous stylists will be at The Sage Gateshead on Saturday to investigate what lies beneath our outfits.
Famed for dressing people, the couple will now be asking the nation to get naked as they measure every aspect of their body, from height and waist, to chest size, leg and arm length.
Trinny told the Echo: "It's moving on from us looking at dressing up people. Us Brits suffer from a negative view about the nation's body shape, that we're overweight, unattractive and feel pressured to look a certain way.
"So it's great for us to be involved in finding out more about the reality behind the myths. We will be looking at everything from the average size of a man's privates to the average leg length.
"We've got no expectations, so it's really exciting. We'll be coming up to spend a day so we're trying to get as many people as we can to come along and take part."
And the girls are on the hunt for anyone over the age of 18 to take part.
"It doesn't matter whether you're young or old, fat or thin, we want you to come and get naked with us," Susannah added.
"We're also looking for people with great body stories and want to know what people love and hate about themselves and how we can learn to love our bodies."
And even perfectly preened Susannah has hang-ups about the way she looks
"I hate my tummy, I hate my arms and I hate the way my chin's started going saggy with age. In fact, I find getting older quite scary so everyone has their insecurities."
Their ultimate aim is to persuade people to ditch their clothes and bare their bodies for a massive naked sculpture depicting two inspirational people – a man and woman that will be selected for the grand finale of the series.
As part of the pioneering project, population geneticist Dr Jim Wilson will be on hand to investigate how the fat gene FT0 is spread across the UK.
Trinny and Susannah will be at The Sage Gatehead on Saturday. Any Wearsiders who don't want to let it all hang out in public can measure themselves and add their statistics online at www.itv.com/body.
