French first for Durham Cathedral choir
Two French students are helping to create a double first for Durham Cathedral choir this year.
Laure de Longevialle and Apolline Jauffret will not only be among the first female members, but will also be the first French voices of the choir.
The 12-year-olds took voice trials when the choir performed in France last month and will spend a year singing with the choir from September.
Choir master James Lancelot said: "We are very much looking forward to them joining us."
Both will study at the nearby Chorister School.
