Drug dealer sent back to jail just six months after release
A drug dealer was caught with £20,000-worth of amphetamine within months of his early release from a six-year term for supplying cocaine.
Kevin Dunn, of Enderby Road, Millfield, Sunderland, had served just two years of the sentence when he was allowed out of prison on parole last April.
When police raided his mother's South Tyneside home last October, they found a bag containing 1,500 grams of amphetamine – which had a street value of 20,000 – hidden under a bush.
Dunn admitted possession with intent to supply.
Newcastle Crown Court heard his parole was revoked after the drugs were found and he is not now due for release from that sentence until February 2012.
Judge John Evans sentenced Dunn to four years in jail for the amphetamine offence, meaning his release date will remain about the same.
The judge said: "This will only extend your sentence for a short time beyond your recall."
John Wilkinson, defending, said Dunn had been looking after the amphetamine for someone else.
He said the 41-year-old had done well on a number of courses in prison, aimed at setting up his own business.
Dunn received the six-year sentence in 2007 after he was arrested as part of an undercover police operation aimed at dealers in South Tyneside.
