'Britain's worst goalkeeper' calls in legend... and yoga teacher
Dubbed the goalkeeper with Britain's worst team, Richard Heiniger has been getting a helping hand from a Sunderland AFC legend – and a yoga expert.
Former Black Cats keeper Jimmy Montgomery and yoga teacher Jambo Truong visited Durham City AFC to give Richard a coaching session he will never forget.
The pair were at the club as part of FA Cup sponsor E.ON's Great Saves campaign, which has been scouring the country in search of the nation's unsung goalkeeping heroes.
Richard, a student at Newcastle College, has been one of Durham City's stars this season, said manager Lee Collings, who nominated him for the award.
The club was labelled the UK's worst team after scoring just 13 goals in the Unibond Premier – six leagues below the Premier League.
Despite conceding 113 goals in just 23 games this season, Richard continues to give 100 per cent every week.
But Richard admits he suffers from pre-match nerves which can affect his concentration.
In a bid to make him less of a knee wobbler and more like Bruce Grobbelaar, the former Black Cats shot-stopper was called in.
Manager Lee said: "Richard's been absolutely brilliant for us between the sticks this season, in what has been a very tough year for the club.
"He's given it his all. It can't be easy for the lad and maybe that's why his nerves start to jangle a bit before kick-off on a Saturday.
"It's been interesting watching him take part in the yoga session.
"Hopefully, that'll help him chill out and improve his concentration levels before the game this weekend."
