THERE’S more than meets the eye to the WI.

That was the message from Washington Concord WI as they got themselves in a flap to perform the Charleston.

The ladies were taught the iconic ‘20s dance as part of an open day at St Andrew’s Church in Concord to encourage new members to come along and learn more about their activities.

A spokeswoman for the branch said: “We are trying to make people realise there’s more to the WI than meets the eye.

“We would like to appeal to new members of all ages. The open day was about showing them that it’s a great place to meet new friends and do fun things.”

The Washington Concord WI meet regularly at The Lighthouse Church in Concord.
