Two hurt in Sunderland crash

TWO people were taken to hospital after a road accident in Sunderland last night.

An Audi A4 and a Mercedes A Class collided in Roker Baths Road, Roker, just after 9pm.

A 21-year-old woman travelling in the Mercedes suffered an ankle injury and had to be cut free by firefighters. The 21-year-old male driver suffered minor injuries.

Both were taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital.

The male driver of the Audi is not believed to have been hurt.

Diversions were in place from Grantham Road to Midfield Drive until the road reopened just before midnight.
