A SUNDERLAND care centre has held an event in honour of the 100-year anniversary of the First World War.
Staff members of the Dairy Lane Care Centre in Houghton dressed up to help the residents remember their childhood.
Activities co-ordinator Jackie Toolan said: “It started out as First World War, but then we progressed into the childhood memories of the residents and then the 1920s. It was really fascinating talking to the residents about it.
“Everyone glammed up, we had staff dressed as flappers and everyone had a good time. It was extremely successful.
“We had a lot of families come along and it was really nice.
“It was so, so rewarding to just to see how happy it makes the residents and it brings back nice memories for them.”
