AN old Sunderland pub house has been named the city’s best boozer for a second year running.

The Isis has repeated its success from last year, grabbing the Sunderland and South Tyneside Camra (Campaign for Real Ale’s) award.

“We’re very proud of the achievement to win the Pub of the Year for a second time and that certainly goes to prove that what we’re offering to our guests appeals to them and we’re doing it right,” said Mike Berryman, sales and marketing manager with Jarrow Brewery, which owns the pub.

Sunderland’s Fitzgerald’s, in Green Terrace, took third place.

Last year, the Silksworth Row pub won by a record margin after entering for the first time and now goes through to the final of Camra’s national Pub of the Year competition.
