A HARDWORKING vet has clawed her way to success after being nominated for two national awards.

Wendy Rowntree was given a double treat when she, and her business, The King’s Road Vetinary Practice Ltd, were submitted for The Petplan Veterinary Awards 2014.

Wendy, who opened the practice in January 2012, said it was a “shock” when she received two certificates notifying her of the nominations.

The practice is up for the accolade of Veterinary Practice of the Year, and Wendy is nominated for Vet of the Year. “I’m more chuffed for the whole surgery to be nominated,” she said. “It means that we are providing a good service, and people appreciate what we are trying to do.”

Wendy works closely with a number of Wearside charities, to provide care for animals they deal with, including Animal Krackers, and Pawz 4 Thought.

“I think people appreciate what we do with the charities,” she said. We try to help them because they do good work.”

Wendy and the team will find out whether they have won the awards in March.
