A HAIRDRESSER cut the competition down to size after going head to head with stylists from around the UK.

Jodie Breeds, owner of 24 Carat Hair and Beauty, in Grangetown, has been selected to be part of celebrity hair extensions company Great Lengths’ style team.

The brand, which provides hair for celebrities such as Cheryl Cole, was looking for fresh talent to join their team and 26-year-old Jodie ticked all the boxes.

“I didn’t think I would have a chance when I applied as I hadn’t qualified in their extensions at the time,” she said

“I’ve just completed the course so I’m promoting the brand in my salon now.

“People apply from all over the UK as the chance only comes up once a year, so I was over the moon when I got the email saying I was in the final 13.”

Jodie, who also runs Miss 24 Carat, a beauty pageant which sees the winner heading to Miss England, applied for the post as it is something different and she wouldn’t mind adding celebrity hairdresser to her CV.

She said: “I’ve never been on an artistic team before.

“It’s something I really want to get involved in, especially as I’m doing the Miss England Pageant and they are the main sponsors. It means I can go back stage and help style the girls.

“The selection day was in Leeds and was actually very calm and relaxed and I’m thrilled to have been selected.

“Becoming part of such a well-known brand – they are like the Rolls Royce of extensions – is the next step in my career and I’m really excited to get started.”
