A GENEROUS little girl had her locks chopped in aid of charity.
Seven-year-old Aimee Lundy has had nine inches cut off her strawberry blonde hair to donate to the Little Princess Trust.
The Dame Dorothy Primary School pupil made the donation after seeing a little girl with no hair.
“She saw this little girl online and started asking why she had no hair,” said mum Lindsey Lundy, 31.
“I explained and she said she wished she could help her, she wished she could give her her hair.
“So we started looking into it and found out about the Little Princess Trust.”
The charity was set up in 2006 by the parents of Hannah Tarplee, who died after battling a Wilms tumour – a type of kidney cancer – in 2005.
Hannah lost her hair during treatment of the disease, and her parents set up the trust in memory of that to provide hair to other children who suffer the same.
The charity provide real-hair wigs to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland.
Aimee has already raised around £600 for the charity in sponsor money with help from family and friends.
Lindsey, of Town End Farm, said: “I am so proud of her. She has done this completely off her own bat and raised so much money already.
“Aimee’s dad, David, has taken a sponsorship form into Johnson’s Controls, where he works, and they have raised £400, and I took a sponsor form into her school and the teachers put it up in the staff room and they have raised money for her.”
Aimee’s hair was cut by Amanda at Cleopatra’s hair salon, Dundas Street, Monkwearmouth.
“She was so excited to get it cut and donate it,” said Lindsey.
“I made sure she definitely wanted it cut, because she has always had long hair.”
Lindsey said Aimee, who has a brother Ben, 13, and sister Emily, one, couldn’t wait to get her hair cut.
“She really has a heart of gold, and the fact she has done this at such a young age makes me really proud,” she said.
