A HAIRDRESSER’S that had to be evacuated when the ceiling collapsed is still closed for business.

Eight people were rescued from Hair Philosophy in Martin Terrace, Pallion, on Friday after the ceiling fell in.

Emergency services were scrambled to the salon and police had to smash their way in to help those trapped inside.

One person was taken to hospital as a precaution and a spokeswoman for the North East Ambulance Service said it was a “miracle” nobody was seriously
injured.

Firefighters fitted timber beams to secure the building, and cordoned off the area so building surveyors from Sunderland City Council could assess the site.

The building was still fenced off yesterday
