SUNDERLAND’S Alfred N’Diaye rescued an injured young fan after a barrier collapsed during a Spanish match.

Fencing at Osasuna’s El Sadar stadium in northern Spain gave way as fans celebrated the opening goal in a vital end of season clash against Real Betis yesterday

Scores of fans ended up on the pitch and Betis midfielder N’Diaye – on loan from the Stadium of Light – carried a young boy from the field who was clearly in distress.

The match was suspended for more than 30 minutes when the decision was made to restart from the 11th minute.

None of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.

Osasuna won the match 2-1, relegating Real Betis from La Liga.

Senegal midfielder N’Diaye joined Betis on loan for the rest of the season in January after spending the first half of the campaign with Turkish club Eskisehirspor.

He was brought to the Stadium of Light for £3.8m in January last year by then-manager Martin O’Neill.
