GREAT Escape star Connor Wickham has been pictured brandishing what is said to be a £17,500 gold bottle of champagne.

The 21-year-old Sunderland striker is featured in national newspapers today for reportedly running up a massive bar bill at Ocean Club in Marbella.

The Daily Mail and The Mirror today reported Wickham seeming happy footing a massive bill for extravagant drinks, including a 15-litre gold bottle of Armand De Brignac champagne which he shared with friends and waiters at the club on the island of Puerto Banus.

Wickham, who played a key role in helping Sunderland avoid relegation, is said to earn £25,000-a-week – and is in line for a new deal after his sporting heroics for Sunderland.

The young player, who was recalled from loan to Sheffield Wednesday as Sunderland teetered on the brink of relegation, scored twice in a 2-2 draw against Manchester City – and during a 2-1 win over Chelsea.

Another clutch of goals came in the 4-0 win against Cardiff, earning him Barclays Premier League Player of the Month in April.
