Sunderland publicans offer reward for return of '˜irreplaceable' rings taken by burglars who even stole their daughter's pocket money

Mark Adam and Debra Woods’ Ryhope house was raided earlier this week with the three rings, which form one ring, and a 50in Samsung television worth between £200 and £300, nabbed by the thieves.

The callous burglars even took £50 in pocket money belonging to Debra’s daughter Holli, 13.

The couple said they called police straight away, with officers arriving a short time later to look for evidence.

Now, Mark, who along with Debra runs the Tipsy Cow pub in Sunderland city centre, is offering cash to help track down the precious jewellery.

“We think this might have been done by someone who knows we are out working at the pub quite a lot,” said Mark, 33, of Rowlandson Terrace.

“I know that there is a slim chance of getting anything back, and all of the other stuff such as the money and the TV you can replace, but the rings really are irreplaceable to us.

“They are ‘one-time’ things.

“I might never manage to get them back to Debra, but it’s worth trying.”

The couple were married five years ago in Turkey and went on to take over the running of the Tipsy Cow earlier this year, giving the pub a complete makeover in the process.

The Bridge Street watering hole was formerly the City Tavern.

Mark and Debra, 42, who have a daughter, Summer, six, were burgled sometime between 7pm and 8pm on Tuesday.

“We think it was some time around then,” added Mark.

“It looks like they might have been disturbed because some things have been left on the floor. Maybe they left in a hurry.

“Oddly, they knocked over one of the pictures from Holli’s dancing competitions off the wall, but they left it in a pile in the corner.

“The police came and did forensics at the house, but it looks like whoever broke in wore gloves.

“Our suspicions are that it is someone who knows we have the pub.”

The rings cost between £400 and £500 when Mark bought them to propose.
