Sunderland pub crawl to help sick youngsters

KIND friends are making sure that youngsters who are in hospital this Christmas get a festive treat.

The group took part in a tour of pubs in Silksworth dressed in weird and wacky outfits to fund-raise for children who will be in Sunderland Royal on December 25.

The cash will be spent on selection boxes for the children, with any leftover funds going to the Royal’s paediatric wards.

Mum Emma Hopper, 29, led 15 other people as they went to a number of venues in Silksworth, her home town, to drum up support from punters.

“I got the idea when my daughter was playing with my hair one night and just decided that we should do it in whatever outfits our families pick for us,” said Emma, who is mum to Lee, 11, and Kadi, seven.

“I had pink tracksuit bottoms and high heels picked out for me. We’ve already got loads of sponsors already so we should be able to get plenty of money in for the kids.”
