IN all the excitement surrounding Connor Wickham, another young star’s contribution to Sunderland’s season should not be overlooked.
Eight-year-old mascot Harry Collinson led the Black Cats out yesterday for the second time this year.
The 4-0 win comes after Harry’s last appearance at the head of the team – the 3-0 drubbing of arch-rivals Newcastle in February.
“I said that if we won today, he should get a little statue to go alongside Bob Stokoe,” joked dad Harry, who runs Collinson’s Jewellers in Crowtree Road.
“People have been sending us message and pictures ever since the final whistle.
“The atmosphere was just absolutely buzzing today.”
The only disappointment was that Wickham’s second goal cost Harry Snr a win with the bookies.
“Harry predicted 3-0 this morning, so I put a bet on – it’s the first time I’ve ever been disappointed to see my team score,” he said.
