A MAN was assaulted in his home by an attacker who had blackmailed him.

The victim, who cannot be named, suffered injuries when Greg Neal turned up at his home armed with a ‘spike’ on April 24.

At Newcastle Crown Court yesterday, Neal, 30, of James William Street, Sunderland, pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding, blackmail and having an article with a blade or point in relation to the weapon.

Neal appeared at the hearing via videolink to HMP Durham and was remanded in custody until next month when he will be sentenced.

Judge James Goss QC gave no indication what the likely sentence will be.
