FOOTBALL fans have the chance speak to writers who feature in a popular magazine created on Wearside.
On Friday, Durham Castle will be the venue for Sunderland-born football publication The Blizzard’s latest Q&A.
Hosted by Marcus Speller of internet podcast the Football Ramble, the panel will feature Blizzard editor Jonathan Wilson, alongside contributors and European football heavyweights Philippe Auclair and James Horncastle.
The panel will be discussing the hot footballing topics of the day, but organisers have stressed that there’s no set agenda and they will be taking of questions from the audience as well as covering the event live on Twitter.
Acclaimed writer and SAFC fan Jonathan, whose books include The Anatomy of England and Inverting the Pyramid, says he expects to field questions on Sunderland’s rollercoaster season, as well as England’s chances in the World Cup.
He said: “Part of the thing with Blizzard is the sense of community from people who believe in the kind of journalism in the magazine.
“It’s great for us as writers to speak to and get feedback from an audience rather than getting replies from readers on Twitter.”
Jonathan and fellow Black Cats supporter Peter Daykin came up with the idea for the quarterly published product while drinking in Sunderland pub Fitzgeralds in 2010.
The title takes its name from a short-lived Victorian Wearside newspaper and is sold digitally with a minimum price of £6.
This week’s talk takes place from 8pm to 11pm on Friday, with tickets priced £7 and £3.50 for Blizzard print or digital subscribers or students.
