Sunderland cyclist, 78, taken to hospital after crash

A PENSIONER was taken to hospital after being knocked from his bike.

The 78-year-old man was involved in an accident with a car in St Michael’s Way in Sunderland city centre at 6.50pm on Sunday.

A passing crew of firefighters saw the accident and stopped to help the man.

They called the police, who are not carrying out any further investigations.

The cyclist was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital with scrapes and bruises to his knees.
