Sunderland church now 125 years old

A CHURCH has put out a call for artworks as it celebrates a milestone anniversary.

St Ignatius’s Church in Hendon is turning 125 this year and is hosting an art exhibition to mark the event.

The church, on the junction of Mowbray Road, Bramwell Road and Suffolk Street, is asking people to submit postcard-sized pieces of art for the display.

The works, ideally inspired by the church, will then be put up for all to see from Thursday, June 19, to Thursday, July 10.

The deadline for people to submit their artworks is Friday, June 13.

For more information on the exhibition and how to submit pictures, contact Father Andrew Collins-Jones on 567 5575. Alternatively, contact Peter Reid on 584 0486.
