SCORES of runners braved the snow, ice and mud to take on one of the most gruelling event in the history of the English National Cross Country Championships.
The event was a disappointing one for Sunderland Harrier Weynay Ghebresilasie, the former Olympian and Eritrean asylum seeker.
He had been the was red-hot favourite to twin, but instead had to settle for bronze.
