SUNDERLAND singers have helped out a city hospice to the tune of £1,000.
Members of Voices Together raised the cash for Grace House Hospice in Southwick.
The group, which is mainly made up of people from Sunderland and South Shields, has been together since forming in 2003 and now boasts 18 singers.
They include a mixed-voice four-part harmony choir and they sing at weddings and funerals as well as fund-raising concerts.
Members handed the funds over to patron of Grace House, veteran broadcaster Kathy Secker.
After more than a decade of fund-raising, Grace House is set to welcome its first children in the next few months.
Maureen Hope, booking secretary of the group, said: “Kathy has worked very, very hard to get things at the hospice where they are now.
“We are really happy to pass on the money to a cause like this.”
Voices Together has donated to the hospice in previous years and also support Marie Curie Cancer Care, Help 4 Heroes and the Royal British Legion.
