A SENIOR council officer has been suspended.
Assistant head of community services, Colin Ranson, was part of a drive to overhaul school meals in Sunderland.
But the Echo understands he will not be returning to his desk at Sunderland Council’s depot in South Hylton.
Council bosses have refused to confirm Mr Ranson has been suspended or discuss the reasons behind it.
A spokesman said: “It is inappropriate for the city council to comment on circumstances affecting individual employees.”
The Echo was unable to contact Mr Ranson for comment.
