DRIVERS are being warned that two short-term road closures will be in place as part of plans to tackle traffic congestion in a town.
The measures, in Chester-le-Street, are part of a major improvement project by Durham County Council.
Work will take place on Newcastle Road, Park Road and Blind Lane to widen the carriageway, build a new carriageway, improve footpaths and install new traffic signals and street lights at the Northlands roundabout.
Resurfacing work is due to be continued this week, while the lane closures in place southbound on Park Road and eastbound on Blind Lane are expected to be removed on Sunday at 6am.
In order to complete the resurfacing works, Blind Lane, from the Drum Lane roundabout to the Northlands roundabout eastbound, will be closed from 6am until midnight on Sunday.
A further closure will also be in place on the A693 from Drum Lane to the Northlands roundabout, as well as on Blind Lane, between 6am and midnight on Sunday, September 7.
The resurfacing work is expected to be completed on time.
