DOZENS of dolphins have been spotted swimming near Roker.

Michael Ellsbury sent us these pictures taken by Tan Yung Tieng of a pod of dolphins at the mouth of Sunderland’s harbour.

Mr Ellsbury said he spotted the marine mammals on Sunday evening.

Dolphins and harbour porpoises are spotted from time to time in the mouth of the Wear, some even swimming further up river.

Other occaisional visitors include seals, which have been seen as far up the Wear as Chester-le-Street.
